Timothy George Gruen

Timothy George Gruen was born on April 9, 1914 in Abilene, Kansas. He was the son of George and Freida Malan Gruen and went to be with Jesus on December 14, 1992 having attained the age of 78 years, 8 months and 5 days. He was born and raised in the Holland Community, south of Abilene, Kansas. On September 10, 1935 he was united in marriage to Lola Mae Cormack, also from Abilene, Kansas. The 57 years they spent together they had 5 children. George Everett Gruen, Timothy Lee Gruen (know as TLee for all who have known him, Ronald Eugene Gruen, Donald Gruen(who went to be wtih the Lord in 1951) and Donna Marie Gruen.

Ivan Wesley Persinger

“Ivan Wesley Persinger, son of Henry Wesley and Esta Pettijohn Persinger was born June 30, 1916 southwest of Norton, Kansas and passed away February 4th, 1977 at the Norton County Hospital, Norton, Kansas at the age of 60 years, 7 months and 4 days. Ivan grew to manhood in Norton County on the family farmstead and attended Fairmont Rural Grade School and Norton County High School. On January 1, 1947, Ivan and Geneva L. Coop were married in Norton, Kansas after Ivan returned from WWII. The couple made their home on the farmstead southwest of Norton and had recently celebrated the 30th Wedding Anniversary. Ivan was an Army Staff Sergeant during World War II and was a WWII Veteran having served in the European Theater.

He was a member of the Church of Christ and was very active in church, farm and community affairs. He served as Farm Bureau President and on local township boards and was Republican Committeeman of his township. He was a man very interested in his children and grandchildren and worked to keep the “freedoms for all” that he had enjoyed all his life, so that his children and grandchildren could enjoy them also. He also was a well-informed reader of World Affairs.

Survivors include: his wife, Geneva, of the home, two daughters and their husbands, Vicki and Ronald Gruen of Abilene, Kansas and Patti and Terry Bonnett of Norton, one brother and his wife, Gerald and Arbutus Persinger of Norton; two sisters, Verla Knight, Mildred and Clarke Fowler, all of Mesa, AZ.; two grandchildren, Contessa and Jeremy Gruen of Abilene, KS; one niece, Susan Persinger and one nephew, Steve Persinger of Norton; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Raymond, and precious daughter, Connie Lea.

He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, loving and devoted father and grandfather, and friend to all who knew him.”
